Kingston Forest & Nature School – Drop-In

Join us for one of our drop-in sessions. Our drop-in sessions allow children and their parents/caregivers to play, learn and grow in nature TOGETHER. This program is open to everyone but geared towards children aged 18 months-12 years, and offers a wide variety of child-led nature-rich experiences for you and your child.
  • Parent/caregiver-assisted half-day program for children 18 months to 12 years.
  • Snacks & lunch are the responsibility of the parent.
  • Program runs from 9:00am-12:00pm.
  • Registration NOT required, however an Assumption of Risk/Informed Consent Form and a Photo/Video Consent Form must be signed before attending: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1AaOOJ50HI4gkJ5b5SJtV4aeLN0PB_uRH?usp=sharing
  • Suggested donation of $10/family
In each of our programs, we seek to play, learn, and grow, and to build relationships to the land, each other, and ourselves. All of our programs are child-led, play-based, and use an inquiry- or interest-based emergent curriculum (we dig deeper when and where there is interest with no pre-determined “plan”). Play, learn & grow with us. Here are some of the many things we like to do:
  • interact with natural elements & loose parts
  • learn about the local flora & fauna we interact with
  • watch for & listen to the creatures around us
  • chase questions, nurture wonder
  • tell stories, sing, dance, play
  • craft with natural materials
  • use nature to inspire our playing & creating
  • build structures
  • create imaginary worlds
  • learn safety & age-appropriate risk-taking
  • practice conflict resolution skills
