Kingston YMCA Peace Medal Awards Breakfast

Join Kingston YMCA and Tom Jackson – Officer of the Order of Canada, actor, recording artist, activist and philanthropist – on November 1 for the YMCA’s Peace Medal Award Breakfast. Tom brings his life journey, Ballads not Bullets, sharing his experiences from the streets of Winnipeg to acts of philanthropy that have raised millions for food banks and other charities. Tom has crafted a compassionate stage of caring. He has embraced his life experiences and championed for the marginalized. While living on the streets of Winnipeg, his personal search for identity led to bonds with those who were outcast and marginalized. His voice became his way off the streets and earned him roles on radio, television, theatre and film. He knows first-hand how the power of giving changes and saves people’s lives.  While he has enjoyed a wonderful life as an actor and singer, his favorite role has been “activist.”  "Collaborating with others is intoxicating," he says, "especially when the effort is good for the world, for business and for the soul." By celebrating the YMCA Peace Awards together and the members of our community who help to make Kingston a more caring place to life, we are thanking those who are creating the future we want for our children, community, country and world.
