The China Cat Riders play the music in the mystical trench that the Grateful Dead forged through the sonic center of rock and roll. We are looking for that shared and special consciousness that lives in the best jams. We want that slinky psychedelic funk that lands about three feet above the ground so it can unravel and flit about in the guts and limbs of our audience. The China Cat Riders are all about that rare rapturous whoop that comes from a communal deep dive into American Psychedelia. We know that it takes a whole community to get the crescendos to flower and the beauty to ache.
The China Cat Riders offer an authentic dose of The Dead. We have two drummers and a real Hammond Organ and Leslie. We’ve got a bass player with 6 strings and a whole whack of Phil Bombs, and we got the dual guitar dance going on. We are not shy of the long and deep cuts, and we don’t do it note for note. We know the music plays the band.
We are proud and humbled as we watch the Dead Head community unite at our gigs and dance to this extraordinary music.
